But what Billboard is most known for is their extensive charts of the top Hot 100 music hits of the day.

Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 is the industry standard top audio music popularity chart and is issued weekly. The chart ranks top songs based on radio play and singles record sales.

The first Billboard Hot 100 was released August 4, 1958. The number one song in that issue was “Poor Little Fool” by Ricky Nelson. The most recent issue was published April 25, 2009 and features Black Eyed Peas new hit, “Boom Boom Pow”. The Billboard Hot 100 has published 973 #1 top audio hit charts since its inception as the music industry’s leading standard for top song charts.
